Gladstone Slope Stabilisation, QLD

Description

Slope rehabilitation works in the form of general maintenance (slope scaling/ trimming, tree removal & installation/ remediation of drains), excavation and backfill of new rock fill and protective treatments (gabion structures, shotcrete & steel wire mesh protection work). The works also includes pavement repairs.

Works

The work undertaken included:

  • Clearing, Grubbing and trimming of slopes
  • Installation of soil nails/placement of mesh
  • A gabion retaining wall installation.
  • Road construction and sealing.
  • Guardrail re-instatement.
  • Drain clearance and scour protection to the existing drain exit points

Challenges

  • Remote location where materials were imported
  • Narrow roads and working on an incline
  • Zero mobile coverage or internet connection
  • Access to local school bus and community through the tight worksite past drilling rigs.
  • Liaise with local community so that community is informed of works.

Our Management

The Management Team of CivilTeam Engineering is continually working with our specialist subcontractors, TMR and the local community to achieve a successful project for all involved. Upon award of this project CivilTeam Engineering were requested to accelerate the programme of the works to ensure works were completed prior to Christmas. At Present the date for Practical completion is scheduled for the 12th of December 2013. The date for practical completion based on the tender programme is 9th January 2014.

Although tight site access, no mobile phone coverage and remote location have challenged our team, both the client and the local community are happy and project is set to be completed well ahead of schedule
