Description

Replacement of floodway single lane structure over Mimosa Creek on Outstation Road, Woorabinda with 5/2.4 x 2.1 SLBC and raising/reinstating floodway approaches.

Our Management

The location of the works required management of environmental conditions and associated safety risks working neara watercourse. CivilTeam had to comply with federal and state legislation including a temporary water barrier development approval to determine the method of works including the maintenance of downstream flow. A diversion was created and reinforced with natural rock excavated during the course of the works to prevent scouring. Additional rock was used as an energy dissipater on the output of the diversion. This effectively ensured downstream water quality was maintained.

Value Add

• Completion of the culvert gave vehicle access to the west side of Woorabinda for the first time in approx. 2 years
• Local personnel were employed where possible
• Design changes requested by CivilTeam resulted in the installation of additional safety barriers on the road along the culvert
• Completed ahead of programme
