Hart’s Range Aerodrome Upgrade
Description
Hart’s Range is 145 km’s north east of Alice Springs. This airfield was originally part of the scope of works to be undertaken in Project 40. However, the client judged that the layout of the aerodrome was unsuitable, and following considerable damage during the 2011/2012 wet season decided that eventually the aerodrome would need to be relocated to a more suitable site.
Meanwhile, CivilTeam was requested to price additional works to repair damage to the existing runway, to provide a temporary service life.
Works (original scope)
- Widening of runway strip from 60m to 80m
- Relocation of drainage outside of new runway strip
- Relocation of windsock and pole
- Construction and defining of signal area
- Relocation of runway strip markers
- Ensuring aerodrome is correctly marked with cones and markers
Challenges
- Remote location with difficult access and supply logistics
- Indigenous Relations
Our Management
Proven previous capability led to the client inviting CivilTeam to undertake this project building on the good will between the client and the Remote Airport Team.
Value Add
The aerodrome upgrade initiative is part of a major national maintenance program currently being undertaken by the Australian Government. CivilTeam is proud of the high standard of works, good relations and value for money that we are contributing to this undertaking.
