Cairns International Airport
Description
CivilTeam were awarded this contract to construct the new GSE parking area at the Domestic Terminal while undertaking concurrent works on the Domestic Apron Bay 23 - Project 9.
Works
Key elements in this project included:
- Sediment and erosion control
- Strip and surcharge material from Stage 3 of the GSE Area
- Pavement construction
- Stormwater drainage works
- Lighting and electrical works
- Miscellaneous construction works, including storage rack footings, rack relocation and installation of guard rail
Challenges
- Working airside within an airport
- Managing access to the airport’s fuel farm located adjacent to our work site
Our Management
The team established a great partnership with the client and other sub-contractors working adjacent to the site.
Regular meetings were held with site personnel to provide updates on the progress, and planned works in advance. Continual communication between all project stakeholders ensured the scope of works and operations were agreed upon within the strictly controlled environment.
